A brain-dead YSRC leader was assaulted at Mangalagiri

A YSRC leader in Mangalagiri was attacked by a few unidentified miscreants, resulting in serious injuries and the announcement of their brain death on Friday. The victim was identified by the police as Mangalagiri resident Meka Venkat Reddy, who is in his middle age. He was doing a door-to-door campaign on Thursday when he was struck by a few miscreants on two-wheelers, who then left the area. After suffering serious head injuries, Venkat Reddy was sent to Manipal Hospital, where doctors declared him brain dead and began treating him.

The event created a political storm in the area since the leaders of the YSRC are claiming that the assault was carried out by a TDP cadre. The victim’s relatives were visited at the hospital by YSRC MP Alla Ayodhya Ramireddy, MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, and MLC Murugudu Hanumantha Rao, who promised them of all the help they needed.

MLA Ramakrishna Reddy denounced the incident and said that Lokesh and TDP thugs are intentionally attempting to cause disruptions in the area and are exploiting it for their political gain since they are scared of losing the polls. The police opened an investigation when they received a complaint.
