A minor earthquake occurs in Kutch, Gujarat; no casualties are reported

The Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) said that just after midnight on Sunday, a minor earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 struck Gujarat’s Kutch area.

The Gandhinagar-based institution stated in its most recent bulletin that the earthquake was detected at 12.12 am, with its epicenter located 22 kilometers east-south east of Khavda.

According to district officials, there were no recorded injuries or property damages.

The Kutch district is situated in an area of very high seismic risk, often experiencing smaller-magnitude earthquakes.

Kutch has already seen three earthquakes this month.

According to the ISR database, the district had a tremor on March 5 with a magnitude of 3.2 and on March 11 with an intensity of 3.5.

The second most damaging and third-largest earthquake to strike India in the previous 200 years occurred in Kutch in 2001. Approximately 13,800 people lost their lives and 1.67 lakh were wounded in the area, which also saw several towns and villages almost completely destroyed.
