According to CM Gehlot, Rajasthan would provide the most backward castes among OBCs a 6% reservation
According to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s announcement on Wednesday, the Most Backward Castes among the OBCs would get 6% of the Rajasthan government’s OBC reservations. This will be in addition to the existing state-provided Other Backward Classes (OBC) reserve of 21%.
Gehlot tweeted on Wednesday night, “The OBC commission will conduct a poll to determine the most backward castes in the OBC category and the panel will submit the findings in a time-bound way. He tweeted, “With this, the most underprivileged castes will have more opportunities for education and employment in government.”
According to Gehlot, several SC and ST organizations continue to call for population-based reservations, and the government is looking into the issue.
The CM said that the Rajasthan government has abolished the need of immovable property from the 10% quota for the EWS category, allowing this segment to fully benefit from the reservation.
