According to KTR, BJP provided hints to BRS in 2018

BRS said today that the BJP had approached them in 2018 in advance of the most recent Assembly elections with a proposal for an alliance, which they had swiftly rejected. The accusations were made a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao had asked him to join the NDA but that he had refused the offer because he was aware of Rao’s actions and didn’t want to defraud the Telangana people. KT Rama Rao, who was furious, had criticized the Prime Minister, claiming that they do not cooperate with cheats, and had referred to the BJP as the largest jumla party, with Narendra Modi serving as its leader. KCR has been silent on the matter so far.

Today, KT Rama Rao used the microblogging platform X to criticize the BJP and the Prime Minister once again. He uploaded clippings that included K Laxman, the state BJP president at the time, who claimed that the BJP had made election-related contact with the BRS.

“The Biggest Jhoota Party (BJP) conveyed signals to the BRS in 2018 via its state president, Dr. K Laxman. Could the offer have been made without his Delhi supervisors’ consent?,” asked KTR. “And the exact minute that the offer was made, BRS had flatly refused it. The political tourists who are making up tales and have selective amnesia need to be aware of this.

Although there was no official alliance, the Congress and TDP did team up to oppose the BRS, which had the backing of AIMIM, in 2018. In addition to the seven seats it has controlled for years, AIMIM head Asaduddin Owaisi also campaigned for the BRS in minority-dominated districts where AIMIM does not fight. As a consequence, Muslim voters cast their ballots en masse for the BRS, leaving the Congress indecisive. This shows how important AIMIM’s support was. Dr. Laxman had suggested that BRS should break with AIMIM and join forces with the BJP, however after the elections, the BJP lost one of its three seats.

Additionally, KT Rama Rao asked a few what he described as “common sense questions.” Why would BRS join forces with a party that received no deposits in 105 assembly constituencies, he questioned. When we have the strength to create on our own, why does BRS want the BJP’s backing in the GHMC elections? We are not cheats; we are warriors.

The Prime Minister’s schedule is for the Hyderabad municipal elections in 2020, when the BJP won 48 seats. AIMIM corporators helped BRS elect its mayor and deputy mayor in the 2020 elections. After losing to the BJP in the Dubakka byelection and suffering a loss in the Hyderabad municipal elections, KCR realized how dangerous the BJP was given the state of the Congress at the time. The BJP abruptly lost momentum during the Karnataka elections, and Congress reclaimed the Opposition space. The leadership of the Congress was pleased with the sequence of events since even Rahul Gandhi stated on X that Mr. Modi had acknowledged the covert agreement between the BRS and the BJP. Revanth Reddy, the head of PCC, asserted a fevicol connection between the BJP and BRS.
