According to Tihar prison officials, Kejriwal neither brought up the insulin problem with AIIMS doctors nor was advised to do so

According to PTI, Tihar officials have denied assertions made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s insulin availability.

The AAP has charged that Kejriwal, a diabetic, was not given insulin by the Tihar government. In addition, the group claims there is a “conspiracy” to “kill” him.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Tihar administration said that neither Kejriwal nor the physicians brought up the topic of insulin during a video conference set up by the jail authorities between Kejriwal and leading experts from AIIMS.

“Kejriwal was informed that there was no serious concern and was advised to continue with the prescribed medicines, which will be evaluated and reviewed on a regular basis,” a prison official said after a thorough 40-minute session.

The video conference was set up at Sunita Kejriwal’s request. During the session, medical authorities from Tihar prison were present, along with a renowned physician from AIIMS.

Comprehensive records on Kejriwal’s food, medication schedule, and glucose levels were sent to the AIIMS expert. In a report to Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, the Tihar prison administration refuted claims made by Kejriwal that he was not given insulin throughout his treatment.

Since April 1, Kejriwal has been detained in Tihar prison by the Enforcement Directorate in relation to a money-laundering case involving the previous excise policy of the Delhi government.
