Adopt a decision on the Dalai Lama’s rebirth, advises Sikyong

During his visit to the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre, Sikyong Penpa Tsering, the president of the Central Tibetan Administration, met with representatives of several Buddhist religious centers located in Toronto.

He encouraged them to adopt a resolution and issue a joint statement regarding the issue of the 14th Dalai Lama’s reincarnation and to discuss plans for commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Lama’s birth.

The topic of the Chinese Communist Party’s growing meddling in the Dalai Lama’s rebirth since 2007 was raised by Sikyong Penpa Tsering. While restating the Dalai Lama’s September 2011 speech and his intention to confer with revered high lamas on his rebirth, Sikyong urged religious organizations to release a statement denouncing China’s intervention.
