After arriving in Lucknow, the families of the nine pilgrims killed in the TN fire tragedy received their bodies

After they arrived in Lucknow on Sunday, the bodies of nine pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh—including five from the Sitapur district—who were murdered in a railway carriage fire tragedy in Tamil Nadu were delivered to their families.

The dead, according to Relief Commissioner Naveen Kumar, landed at the Chowdhury Charan Singh airport on two different planes from Chennai. The government set up district-specific hearse cars at the airport, and the dead were transported to their corresponding districts.

In order to receive the remains of Manoharman Agarwal (81), a native of Lucknow, and her granddaughter Himani Bansal (22), the deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak traveled to the airport.

Manoharman’s son Manoj Agarwal informed PTI that their remains were cremated at the Gulala Ghat in Lucknow.

Pathak offered his sympathies for the nine deaths in a statement to PTI. “The state government is giving the families every assistance possible,” he continued.

On August 26, a fire started inside a parked train compartment at the Madurai railway station, leaving nine persons dead and eight more wounded.

The dead had last week set off from Lucknow on the pilgrimage with numerous other people in a private party bus reserved by their travel operator. They were headed for Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.

Five people who died and were from Sitapur, Mithilesh Singh (52), Shatru Daman Singh (65), Harish Kumar Bhasin (60), Ankul Kashyap (32) and Deepak Kashyap (20), had their bodies transported by ambulances from the state capital to their hometown under the supervision of police and district officials, according to officials.

According to Sitapur Additional District Magistrate (ADM) R B Tiwari, all five remains were delivered to the relatives of the deceased on Sunday night.

“One of the deceased, identified as Deepak Kashyap of Kanshiram locality, has been cremated today, while the rest will be cremated as per the decision of their respective families,” the ADM said.

According to Rohit Anand, the late Harish Bhasin’s nephew, his maternal uncle was a long-time travel operator who often took pilgrims on their journeys.

“We had no idea that this would be his final journey. My maternal uncle escaped the fire without injury. He tried to enter the railway compartment again to save passengers after hearing their pleas, but he died in the blaze, according to Anand, who spoke to PTI.

He stated that Bhasin’s funeral services would be conducted on Monday at a crematorium in Sitapur.

Mithilesh Singh’s family also announced that he will be cremated on Monday.

According to instructions from authorities, the police and administration are providing all assistance necessary to the harmed families, according to ADM RB Tiwari.

Shanti Devi, 67, from Lakhimpur Kheri, and Parmeshwar Dayal Gupta, 57, from Hardoi are the other two persons who perished in the catastrophe, according to the authorities, along with the pair from Lucknow and the five people from Sitapur.

On Sunday night, Shanti Devi’s last rituals were conducted at her hamlet in Kothia, which is under the Shardanagar police jurisdiction. The procedures were carried out by her oldest son Kamlesh Verma in front of his two younger brothers, two sisters, and other family members.

In a special ambulance, her lifeless remains were late that night transported from Lucknow to Kothia village.

Authorities from the Lakhimpur Kheri district, BJP MLA Romi Sahni, former Kheri MP Ravi Verma, and a large number of people paid their respects.

Sita Singh, a native of Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar and a pilgrimage group member, made a safe return aboard a flight on Sunday.

Her son Mohit Singh, who traveled to the airport to see his mother, said the family was concerned since they couldn’t immediately get through to her on the phone after the event.

She has already arrived safely, and we were pleased when we could finally talk to her,” Singh added.

The Southern Railway said the flame was started by a gas cylinder that was “illegally” brought into the vehicle. It claimed investigators are looking into a number of possibilities, including a potential gas leak, as the cause of the fire.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) reported the trip operator on Saturday.

The family of four dead people received compensation from the Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday in the amount of Rs 3 lakh apiece. The remaining five will get financial assistance, the authorities said, and the legal heirs’ information is being confirmed.
