After equating Sanatana Dharma with “dengue” and “malaria,” MK Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin stirs up controversy

Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, stirred a debate when he equated Sanatana dharma to “dengue” and “malaria.”

Instead than merely opposing it, he argued, it should be “eradicated”.

Sanatana dharma, according to Udhayanidhi Stalin, is opposed to social justice and equality.

“Only things that cannot be challenged should be outlawed. We are unable to combat corona, malaria, mosquitoes, or dengue. This must be eliminated. That is how we must remove Sanatana, he reportedly remarked, according to the news agency ANI.

“Sanatana should be eliminated, not fought against. The word Sanatana originates in Sanskrit. It is against social justice and equality, according to Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Amit Malviya, the chairman of the BJP’s IT unit, criticized Udhayanidhi Stalin for his comments on Sanatana dharma and said that he was “calling for the genocide of 80% of the population.”

“Udhayanidhi Stalin, a minister in the DMK administration and the son of Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, has connected Sanatana dharma to malaria and dengue. He believes it ought to be completely destroyed, not only condemned. In essence, he is advocating the extermination of the Sanatana dharma adherents who make up 80% of Bharat’s people. The DMK is a well-known opposition figure and the Congress’s longtime friend. Was this the outcome of the meeting in Mumbai? On X, Amit Malviya posted.

Notably, the DMK is a member of the opposition INDIA group, whose leaders most recently gathered in Mumbai to plan measures for taking on the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Clarification is given by Udhayanidhi Stalin:
According to Udhayanidhi Stalin, he never asked for the “genocide” of Sanatana dharma adherents.

“Go for it. I am prepared to take on any legal difficulty. We won’t be intimidated by such typical saffron threats. Under the capable leadership of our Chief Minister MK Stalin, we, the devotees of Periyar, Anna, and Kalaignar, will strive interminably to maintain social justice and create an equal society.

I’ll repeat it now, tomorrow, and always: we’re determined to keep Sanatana dharma out of the Dravidian country, he said.
