After landslides, the Jammu-Srinagar highway was blocked

On Monday, there was a traffic interruption on the crucial Jammu-Srinagar highway as landslides caused by snow and water occurred at many points along the route. A traffic jam in Udhampur prevented several cars from continuing their journey from Jammu to Srinagar, leaving many stuck. Significant landslides in the Ramban area were recorded in Tabela Chamalwas and Mehad-Cafeteria. The people were instructed by the traffic police to stay off the roadway until the weather cleared up.

Before the landslides, there were many locations, including Dallas between Nashree and Banihal, where there were traffic jams because of slick surfaces and bad circumstances. There was recorded rainfall across the roadway, which resulted in traffic jams.

Snow buildup on upper sections of the Bhaderwah-Chamba, Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag, and Mughal highways was closed to vehicle traffic, shutting off all major surface routes to the Valley.

There have been reports of snow and rain in plains and higher altitudes, according to the Meteorological Centre, Srinagar. According to its advice, on February 19–20, there is a chance of rain on the plains and heavy to very severe snowfall on the higher elevations of the Pir Panjal and Kashmir mountains in the Jammu division.
