After seeing his Delhi counterpart in Tihar, Punjab Chief Minister Mann claims that Kejriwal is being treated like a hardened criminal

When Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday in Tihar prison, he said the AAP leader was not receiving facilities that are offered even to convicted felons.

Mann, who was escorted by AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak, said that they spoke with Kejriwal over the phone for 30 minutes after meeting him behind a glass wall.

“I started crying when I saw him. They are treating him like a devoted criminal. Why is he at fault? Is it his responsibility to construct clinics in mohallas? Mann said.

The chief minister of Punjab said that Kejriwal instructed him to go to various locations in order to promote the candidates of the India bloc.

In addition, he predicted that the Aam Aadmi Party will become a powerful political force when the results of the Lok Sabha election are declared on June 4.

According to Pathak, Kejriwal was often asking whether the residents of Delhi were receiving subsidies since he was concerned about them.

“Even in prison, his concern is for the citizens of Delhi. He said that he would be calling two ministers to talk about concerns starting next week. He has also requested that party MLAs engage with the public, according to Pathak.

An officer from the Tihar prison said that the meeting was held in the “mulakat jangla,” a space separated by a glass partition.

Given that Mann is a Z+ protectee, security was already increased with local police stationed outside Tihar prison.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained the chief minister of Delhi and national convenor of the AAP on March 21. On Monday, his judicial detention will come to an end.

In the Goa Assembly election campaign, Kejriwal has been accused by the ED of being a part of the “entire conspiracy of the Delhi liquor scam, in the drafting and implementation of the policy, for favouring and benefiting the quid pro, receiving kickbacks and eventually using part of the proceeds of crime generated out of the scheduled offence.”
