AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi: Rahul Gandhi is making accusations against me because I have a beard

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, has said that AIMIM, a group run by Asaduddin Owaisi, funds candidates in every area where the Congress opposes the BJP by accepting donations from the saffron party.

Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of AIMIM, has taken aim at Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, for allegedly claiming that AIMIM funds candidates who run against the Congress in different states.

Gandhi, according to Owaisi, fabricated these accusations against him because he hated Owaisi’s religious identity.

Speaking at a public gathering on Thursday evening in Sangareddy, close to Hyderabad, he strongly disagreed with Gandhi’s claim that the AIMIM funds candidates anywhere the Congress opposes the BJP after receiving funding from the latter, according to PTI.

Gandhi said that he is only repeating verbatim what someone has written to him.

Gandhi was questioned by the AIMIM leader about how much money he needed to lose the Amethi Lok Sabha seat.

“Did you (Rahul) take money from BJP to lose elections in 2014 and 2019?” said the politician.

“You accuse me of being Rahul Gandhi because my name is Asaduddin. You allege that I am stealing money from people because I wear a skull cap and have facial hair. You detest people with beards and skull hats, and you detest this moniker in particular. You make the accusations because of this,” he added.

“You don’t tell your buddy Jyotiraditya Scindia that he got money when he joined the BJP. He didn’t know that your buddy Jitin Prasada, who also joined the BJP, accepted money to do so,” he said.

Owaisi said that Gandhi had “become Modi 2” in response to his statement that the Congress will return the fraudulent funds that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had stolen from the populace.

The AIMIM leader said that not even 15 paise had been deposited into the Rs 15 lakh that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had pledged to put in “everyone’s account” in 2014.

During his electoral rallies in Telangana, Gandhi specifically attacked the AIMIM, claiming that the Asaduddin Owaisi-led party finances its candidates whenever the Congress opposes the BJP.

“Wherever we go to fight the elections… Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Tripura, wherever Congress party fights with BJP, MIM party takes money from BJP and puts up candidates there,” he said.

Telangana will hold assembly elections on November 30.
