Ambala police are holding two agricultural activists

Two agricultural activists have been taken into custody by the Ambala police’s CIA-1 unit in relation to a complaint that was filed on February 13 in advance of the Shardhanjali Samagam, which is scheduled to take place at the Mohra grain market.

Navdeep Singh, a native of Jalbera village, and Gurkirat Singh, a resident of Shahpur village in Ambala, have been identified as the detained activists. They are members of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh-led Bhartiya Kisan Union.

After being taken into custody at Mohali Airport on Thursday, they appeared in court today and were placed under two days of police detention. In response to the call of the Delhi March, agricultural activists tried to breach the barriers at the Shambhu border on February 13. Numerous farmers and security personnel, among them an officer with DSP rank, had sustained injuries. The police officers’ cane shields were stolen. Cane shields, sticks, swords, and slingshots are to be retrieved from several areas in Punjab, according to the police. An SUV is also to be seized upon Navdeep’s identification. Punjabi authorities are going to detain the technician who altered a tractor to breach the roadblock. Similarly, swords and sticks are to be retrieved from Shimla upon Gurkirat’s identification.

A charge under provisions including attempt to kill and stealing was filed at the Ambala Sadar police station against the farmer leaders and activists, including Swaran Singh Pander, Amarjeet Singh, Jai Singh, Navdeep, and Gurkirat.
