Bengaluru: Unmarried lady duped by “phony” astrologers

The 28-year-old lady was duped when she looked up astrologers online to ask for help since her marriage was falling apart. Disappointed at not being able to locate an appropriate union, the victim Divya (name changed) went to an astrologer.

Divya, who lives in Gunjur near Varthur and works for a corporate firm, is originally from Odisha. In order to placate the planets, the accused and his accomplice tricked Divya into doing a number of poojas, including sacrificing a sheep.

The accused intimidated her even more by threatening to cause her more troubles if she didn’t follow their instructions on the rituals. The victim discovered that they had conned her when they persisted in requesting further money. She blocked their cell phone numbers and then reported the accused. Parameshwar Pandit and Love Guru have been named as the defendants. Divya has brought a complaint to the police station in Varthur.

In an interview with TNIE, Divya said that on February 25, she had spoken with one of the accused, named as Parameshwar. “I’m struggling to get married. I looked for astrologers online and came across Parameshwar Pandit’s phone. Later, I began receiving messages from someone else who went by the name Love Guru. They said that I should not have gotten married given my planetary position. They said they would take me to an aghori to have my issue fixed.

I was instructed to offer a sheep as a sacrifice to the aghori. They frightened me even more by claiming that I have more serious issues, and that we can talk provided I give them money. Additionally, they warned that only then would I be able to notice the faults with my horoscope, according to Divya. She was successfully sent Rs 42,000 by the two between February 29 and March 2.

Because the victim promptly filed the report, we were able to freeze Rs. 17,000 from the accused’s two accounts. They have withdrew the remaining sum. The victim’s cell phone numbers have been disclosed. They are being sought for by the police, they claimed.
