After addressing a DMK minister in a hospital, Tamil Nadu CM Stalin declares that “people will teach BJP lesson in 2024”

MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, visited Senthil Balaji, a state minister, on Wednesday at the Omandurar government hospital in Chennai. After Balaji complained of chest trouble while being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), he was admitted to the hospital.

Several DMK members chanted anti-Governor RN Ravi chants outside the institution as Stalin arrived at the hospital to meet with Balaji, the Minister for Electricity, Prohibition, and Excise. Later, in a statement, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu said that the DMK would not be frightened by BJP threats and that voters will give the BJP a lesson in the 2024 elections. He said that the DMK and Senthil Balaji would valiantly defend their positions in court.

In his testimony, Stalin said that Senthil Balaji had experienced chest discomfort as a result of the ED agents torturing him so severely during the questioning. Stalin said that the minister continued to be “pressured” to the extent that he had chest discomfort even after he declared his willingness to assist with the investigation’s authorities.

Stalin made the announcement hours after the ED detained Balaji after searches at the minister’s offices.

“Why did the Enforcement Department torture Minister Senthil Balaji in order to make him experience chest discomfort despite having said that he would completely assist with the investigation? Is it essential for the enforcement agents to behave inhumanely in defiance of the case’s mandated legal processes? These threats from the BJP won’t deter the DMK. Have no fear. In the elections of 2024, the people will give them a lesson, according to Stalin’s translation of his Tamil tweet.

In his statement, Stalin said that the ED had put pressure on Balaji and that the investigating agency’s employees had tortured the Tamil Nadu minister.

He is under pressure from them. They exerted pressure on him until 2:00 a.m., at which point they transported him to the hospital. He is now in the ICU. Why should they persist in torturing him even after he said that he would fully cooperate with the investigation? Even beyond what was required in this circumstance, they have behaved in a really inhumane manner. The bad motives of those who dispatched these authorities are quite evident to us. Senthil Balaji will engage in fair combat. We have a resolute political position on this issue. The DMK will valiantly defend itself in court, according to Stalin’s statement.

As the DMK minister was carried into the hospital early this morning, there was major turmoil outside. While his supporters gathered outside the hospital to protest the ED move, he could be seen sobbing while resting in a vehicle.

Narayanan Thirupathy, deputy president of the state BJP, referred to the Minister’s hospitalisation as a “complete drama” produced by the DMK party. “It is a complete drama with a screenplay and dialogues by the DMK in Tamil Nadu today,” Thirupathy said.

According to DMK Rajya Sabha MP and lawyer NR Elango, the ED’s method of arresting Balaji was absolutely unlawful and unconstitutional.

“The Enforcement Directorate’s method is completely illegitimate and unconstitutional. He was brought into custody by ED without being told why he was being detained. Elango said that we will pursue legal action.

The ED detectives conducted raids at Balaji’s Karur home and his office at the state secretariat on Tuesday in relation to an alleged money laundering case. Additionally, the homes of his brother and a trusted assistant in Karur were searched.
