Amit Shah will visit Assam on April 7-8, and PM Modi on April 17: Jayanta Malla Baruah, Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on April 17 and speak at a rally in Nalbari ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, according to Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah.
Speaking to ANI on Thursday, the minister said that Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, would also go to Assam for two days, from April 7 to 8, when he is expected to speak at three rallies in advance of the general elections, which will take place in seven phases.

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, will go to Assam on April 7 and 8. He has three electoral rallies to speak at: Gohpur, Lakhimpur, and Hojai. On April 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also come to our state and speak at an election rally in Nalbari, Baruah informed ANI on Thursday.

He continued by saying that Prime Minister Modi’s and the Union Home Minister’s schedules were set in stone and unlikely to alter for the time being.

It is our expectation that Assam would be visited by more prominent party leaders. The cadres, allies, and state party unit are prepared for the elections. Going into these elections, our only goal is to elect Narendra Modi to a third term as prime minister. We are getting ready to provide Modi-ji (in his ambition to become prime minister again) at least 13 seats in the Lok Sabha from Assam,” Baruah said.

There will be three stages to the voting process for the 14 Assamese seats: April 19, April 26, and May 7.

Commencing on April 19, there will be seven phases to the elections for the 543 Lok Sabha seats. In the 2019 elections, about 96.8 crore voters will be able to cast ballots at more than 12 lakh polling places nationwide. June 4 is when the votes will be tallied.

The All India United Democratic Front (AIDUF) won one seat, the Congress three, and the BJP nine in the state at the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

An Independent candidate won the last seat. With 36.4% of the total votes cast, the BJP secured the majority vote share, while the Congress secured 35.8% of the total votes cast.

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Modi was the guest of honor at a campaign rally in Jamui, Bihar. Chirag Paswan, the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and an NDA ally, presently represents the area.

With a savage attack on the INDIA bloc, PM Modi said that the country’s progress during the last ten years under the NDA was only the beginning and that much more would be achieved if the party were voted in for a third term. He also accused the Congress and the RJD of stalling development in the nation.

He said that India, which was seen as “weak” by earlier governments, was now leading the globe.
