Amritsar MC cleans the south zone’s sewers and eliminates building trash

All departments of the Amritsar Municipal Corporation (MC) jointly undertook a campaign today in the city’s southern area. MC Commissioner Harpreet Singh oversaw the effort, which included representatives from the horticulture department, the sanitation, construction, operation and maintenance (O&M), and streetlight wings.

During the campaign to remove construction and demolition waste and clean up sewage from Chattiwind Gate, Tarn Taran Road, Sultanwind Road, and the surrounding regions falling within the south zone, all necessary equipment, including tippers, super-suckers, jetting machines, and suction machines, was deployed.

During the drive, safai karamcharis cleaned the roads while superintending engineer Sandeep Singh, executive engineer Bhalinder Singh, SDO Karan Kumar, JEs, and sanitation officials cleared trash and waste. During the campaign, JP Babbar, chief sanitary inspector Ranjit Singh, health officer Dr. Yogesh Arora, and others were present. Workers in horticulture cleared wild grass from the center of major thoroughfares.

Staff from the Streetlight Wing fixed broken streetlights in the south zone’s bazaars, streets, and major thoroughfares. According to MC Commissioner Harpreet Singh, various agencies within the municipal body have coordinated their activities to provide facilities to the citizens and revitalize the holy city.

He said that similar drives will be held often in various parts of the city. He suggested locals might make recommendations about how to make the route better. He urged the populace to separate their dry and moist garbage. Garbage should never be dumped on streets or roadways, he stressed.
