An ex-IPS officer from Lucknow dies by suicide there

At his home in the Gomti Nagar neighbourhood of this city on Tuesday, a former IPS officer scribbled, “I am losing my strength and health,” before shooting himself to death.

Dinesh Kumar Sharma (73), an IPS officer from the 1975 batch, shot himself in the head at his Vishal Khand home. This morning, his corpse was discovered in his chamber, a senior police officer stated on Tuesday.

A suicide note was found in the room by the police.

“I’m killing myself because I can’t handle my depression and anxiety disorder.” My health and strength are declining. Nobody else is to blame, Sharma said in his suicide letter.

He used his handgun, which was also discovered in his chamber, to fire at his temple. The chair contained his corpse, according to the authorities.

Sharma, who retired from the DG post, was receiving depression therapy.

The corpse was found in Sharma’s room early in the morning, according to DG of Security Vinod Kumar Singh.

“I had familial ties to him, and he was a wonderful cop. He used to play for the IPS cricket team and was a very excellent cricket player as well. Said Singh.

In 2010, Sharma left his position as director general of the UP police Housing Corporation.

Sharma’s suicide chamber has been shut off, according to Additional Commissioner Commissioner (ACP) Shweta Chaudhary, and the handgun has been taken.
