An officer of the law commits suicide

Coimbatore: On Sunday, the top constable of the Coimbatore city police was discovered dead from suicide at his Ganapathy Maa Nagar home. According to a suicide note found at his home, he committed the heinous act because he was saddened by his wife’s relocation to London for business.
The dead police officer was recognized as S. Balakumar, 41, from the city’s Ganapathy MaaNagar neighborhood.

On April 18, he was sent on election duty, and on April 20, he arrived home early. But on Saturday, he failed to show up for work, and his parents were unable to get through to him on the phone. His parents called the Saravanampatti police on Sunday, requesting that they inquire about him since he remained unresponsive. Around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, when officers went to his house, they discovered him dead. After the corpse was seized by the police, an autopsy was conducted at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

According to the police, his spouse, Sumathi, a chef employed by the Taj Group of Hotels, was just promoted and moved to the Taj Hotel in London. Balakumar took a ten-day leave of absence to spend time with his spouse and their two kids before her departure for London. After that, he moved his two kids to live with his in-laws in Salem, a police officer said.
Balakumar was the chief constable of the Saravanampatti investigation wing police station. He had enlisted in the police department in 2003. R. Shanmugam, his 76-year-old father, was a special sub-inspector of police before retiring.
A case has been filed under the CrPC’s Section 174, which deals with suicide deaths. There is now more research being done.
