Arrested after Karnataka woman, 87, beats him with a walking stick and is seen on camera

A lady in Karnataka was found to have beaten her father-in-law with a walking stick in a horrifying example of violence. A rumored video of the Mangluru incident went viral on social media, showing a daughter-in-law using a steel walking stick to severely beat her 87-year-old father-in-law. The event happened on March 9.

The event was captured on CCTV, and it included an 87-year-old Mangaluru resident named Padmanabha Suvarna being brutally beaten by his daughter-in-law, Uma Shankari, in Kulshekar. Uma is seen fighting with the old guy while brandishing a walking stick in the air and striking him repeatedly. It shows the old guy begging her not to attack.

Then, after hitting Suvarna with the edge of a couch, Uma slams him viciously to the ground. After leaving the room, Uma is shown coming back and lifting the stick to strike the old man again, but she ultimately chooses not to. With the old guy still lying on the floor, she puts the stick back and walks out of the room.

The elderly victim sustained significant injuries during the attack, and he is now getting medical attention at a private hospital.

The victim’s daughter filed a complaint, leading to the arrest of the culprit, Uma Shankari, an official with the Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) in Attavar.

She was sent to judicial prison for 14 days, according to a report from India Today.

It is said that the accused’s spouse, the victim’s son, works overseas.
