Assam Floods: Tamulpur District Sees Part Of Kalanadi River Bridge Collapse

Following significant rains on Monday, a significant portion of a bridge across the Kalanadi River in the Tamulpur district of Assam collapsed. The Tamulpur district’s Kumarikata and Jalah areas were linked by the bridge. Commuters were shown as being stuck once connection was lost.

This occurred a day after Assam’s ongoing flood crisis deteriorated, with more than 53,000 people reported marooned in six districts.

Nearly 24,000 residents in Dhemaji have been impacted, while further 12,000, 8,500, and 7,500 people have been left stranded in the districts of Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, and Dibrugarh, respectively.

According to the Central Water Commission (CWC), constant rain caused the Brahmaputra and its tributaries’ water levels to rise, flooding the nearby regions.

In numerous areas of the state, the river is reportedly running beyond the danger threshold. This year’s Assam floods have claimed the lives of up to 14 people.
