Ayurvedic hospital awaits staff after 21 years

upgraded to a hospital with ten beds An Ayurvedic dispensary was opened 21 years ago in Harsar, in the nearby Jawali Assembly constituency of the Kangra district, still lacks the equipment and personnel needed to function as a proper medical institution.

People living in gram panchayats under the Nagrota Surian development block are quite resentful about this.

Information indicates that the clinic established in 1960 and that the then-Virbhadra Singh administration converted it into a 10-bed Ayurvedic hospital in 2003.

In 2012, the medical center acquired a new structure.

According to inquiries, the Virbhadra Singh government informed the hospital that it had a 10-bed indoor capacity. However, none of the succeeding administrations, including the Congress and BJP, assigned the authorized number of Ayurvedic medical officers and supporting personnel at the hospital.

The Assembly constituency of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Chander Kumar is home to the gram panchayats of Harsar, Panalath, and Ghadjarot, where there is a great deal of animosity among the locals.

The hospital has not been able to deliver emergency medical treatment due to the lack of Ayurvedic medical officials.

Typically, a ten-bed Ayurvedic hospital should include two staff nurses, one laboratory technician, one ward boy, and three physicians.

The state Ayurveda Department currently only employs one doctor, one pharmacist, and one daily wage worker in this area.

Locals have requested that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu appoint someone to all open positions at the hospital after the expiration of the Model Code of Conduct.

Dr. Ritu Choudhary, the subdivisional ayurvedic medical officer, said that she had written to the state authorities on ayurveda many times, requesting the establishment of additional positions for the upgraded facility.

“The hospital will be fully operational as and when the government fills the vacant posts,” Dr. Choudhary said.
