BJP attributes incident on AAP-led MCD’s “negligence.”

New Delhi: According to Delhi BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva, the fire at the waste site in Ghazipur was caused by the AAP-ruled MCD’s incompetence.

According to Sachdeva, corruption was being played here despite the AAP and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement that this waste would be removed by 2023.
The opposition leader in MCD, Raja Iqbal Singh, said, “There are 25 trommel machines at the Ghazipur landfill site, out of which, as per our information, 13 are faulty, leading to a halt in waste disposal.”

Sachdeva visited the dump site in the morning with Singh and Praveen Shankar Kapoor, the chairman of the Delhi BJP’s media department. On Sunday, the fire broke out at this location, leading to a marked increase in air pollution in the surrounding districts.

From 2017 until 2022, the people of Delhi have been exposed to and informed by the Arvind Kejriwal administration and party’s discourse over the Ghazipur dump site. The chief minister once went so far as to examine the garbage site while wearing a red carpet and said that the AAP had a plan to clean not only the Ghazipur landfill site but also the Bhalswa and Okhla landfill sites if the people of Delhi gave them MCD, according to Sachdeva.

Additionally, the municipal government set deadlines for flattening Okhla in December 2023, Bhalswa in March 2024, and the Ghazipur site in December 2024.
Everyone is aware that pressure increases at garbage sites due to a variety of gases, according to Sachdeva. Air pollution is significantly increased by even tiny fires.

Atishi, an AAP minister, said that Delhi Fire Services’ fire tenders remained in Ghazipur all night. “The flames have been put out. There’s still some smoke in there. We hope it will also cease eventually,” she said.
She stated that Aaley Mohammad Iqbal, the deputy mayor of Delhi, had visited the location on Sunday night and had overseen everything while the fire tenders were at work. Atishi said, “We will undoubtedly conduct an investigation into the circumstances leading up to this fire, including who set it and how.”
