BJP Sends MP Dilip Ghosh A Show-Cause Notice Regarding His Remarks About West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

On Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party sent its MP, Dilip Ghosh, a show-cause notice in response to the contentious statement he made against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The party has demanded an apology from Ghosh and an explanation for his remarks about Mamata Banerjee.

“This is not the first time I have faced controversy over my statement because I speak in front of those who commit injustice,” Ghosh told reporters. I express my grief if it is true that I used unparliamentary words, as many people, including the party, have said.

The BJP MP said, “I will provide an official response to the notice.”

The BJP politician was heard making fun of the West Bengal chief minister’s family history in an alleged video tape on Tuesday, which sparked the uproar.

Ghosh, who is now running for the Lok Sabha seat in Bardhaman-Durgapur, made fun of the Trinamool Congress’ catchphrase, “Bangla Nijer Meye ke chai (Bengal wants its own daughter)”.

She claims to be Goa’s daughter when she visits the state. She claims to be Tripura’s daughter in Tripura. Let her explain first,” he replied.

In response, a furious TMC accused the BJP MP of “blatantly violating” the model code of conduct (MCC) and filed a complaint against him with the Election Commission. Such statements, it was said, “reflect the DNA of the saffron camp.”

“Ghosh’s comments not only cross the boundaries of decency but also perpetuate a culture of misogyny and disrespect towards women in positions of power,” the governing party of West Bengal said in its complaint.

“@DilipGhoshBJP is a disgrace in the name of political leadership!” the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC stated on X. He has descended to the lowest levels of moral bankruptcy, having first questioned the origins of Smt. @MamataOfficial and then Maa Durga’s lineage.

It is “crystal clear that Ghosh has zero respect for the women of Bengal, whether it be the revered goddess of Hinduism or the only woman CM of India,” according to the Trinamool Congress as well.

Before the Assembly elections, the state’s “insider-outsider” dispute gained traction as the governing TMC used Bengali sub-nationalism as its primary platform to counter the Hindutva narrative put out by the BJP. The BJP was dubbed a “party of outsiders” by TMC.
