Dedicated to offering everyone access to high-quality, reasonably priced healthcare: Sinha

Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, said on Saturday that his government is dedicated to providing the residents of the Union Territory with high-quality, reasonably priced, and easily accessible healthcare services. Speaking virtually at the end of a health camp run by the Rotary Clubs of Poonch and Rajouri, Sinha said that the government has spent a total of Rs 1,735 crore on treating individuals under the Sehat Scheme as of the first week of January this year.

During the week-long health camp in the border districts, which benefited the people of the remote regions, the L-G praised the participation of skilled experts from various parts of the nation in offering a complete range of surgical treatment choices and executing over 600 procedures.

The Lieutenant Governor said, “I salute our doctors and Rotary Club members for their dedicated and selfless service to the people.”

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the district administrations for their support and cooperation, as well as the Health Department for providing logistics. According to him, the joint efforts have made it possible for the residents of Rajouri and Poonch to benefit from specialized procedures without having to worry about paying for them. He pleaded with the Rotary Club to plan a special health camp of a similar kind for the residents of Doda and Kishtwar.

“We have made more progress in closing the health gap in the Union Territory under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership,” he said, restating the administration’s pledge to provide “quality, affordable and accessible” healthcare services to everyone.

“The J&K healthcare ecosystem has been strengthened by state-of-the-art health infrastructure, digital interventions, and reforms introduced in the fields of medical education and critical care,” he said.

“We have given particular attention to four crucial areas: physicians, medications, diagnostics, and delivery systems. The government has treated residents under the Sehat Scheme for a total of Rs 1735 crore as of the first week of January 2024, according to the L-G.

The Lieutenant Governor gave the Secretary of Health and other top authorities instructions to inform the public about Tele-MANAS and other services, as well as the availability of physicians in hospitals and health centers. Establishing institutionalized mechanisms is necessary to guarantee the ambulance service’s prompt response, particularly in remote places.

“Immediate response from the ambulance service should be guaranteed through institutionalized mechanisms, particularly in remote areas,” he said.
