Delhi-NCR’s temperature drops due to early morning rains; further showers are expected today

Early on Tuesday, there were significant downpours in a number of areas of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). More rain is expected throughout the day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

It said that there is expected to be further light to moderate rain and thunderstorms across Delhi-NCR. Images captured the national capital’s highways and other regions covered with inches of rain.

The meteorological department stated that a thunderstorm with light to moderate rain and gusty winds of 30 to 40 km/h would occur over and near a few locations in Delhi (Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Burari, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Badili), the National Capital Region (Bahadurgarh), Yamunanagar, Modinagar, Gulaoti, Siyana, Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar, Jahangirabad, Shikarpur (U.P.),” according to the weather service.

Additionally, the regional meteorological agency said that “over and adjoining areas of Farukhnagar, Sohana, Rewari (Haryana), Kithor, Amroha, Moradabad, Garhmukhteshwar, Pilakhua, Hapur, Anupshahar, Bahajoi (UP), Bhiwari (Rajasthan) during the next 2 hours” will get “light to moderate intensity rain.”

The meteorological service predicts that on Tuesday, the national capital’s lowest temperature will likely reach 13 degrees Celsius and its highest temperature will likely reach 28 degrees Celsius.

On Monday, Delhi saw a windy day with a high temperature of 28.2 degrees Celsius—four degrees more than usual.

Partially overcast skies with the chance of very light rain or drizzle at night and gusty gusts early on Monday were the weather predicted by IMD. At 8 p.m., the national capital’s air quality was rated as “poor,” or 227.

An AQI of 0–50 is regarded as “good,” 51–100 as “satisfactory,” 101–200 as “moderate,” 201–300 as “poor,” 301–400 as “very poor,” and 401–500 as “severe.”

According to IMD’s prediction, a severe period of precipitation or snowfall activity is expected to persist across the Western Himalayan Region till February 21. Additionally, showers are expected to occur in the plains of Northwest India on February 19 and 21.

In isolated areas of respective states, Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh are also expected to see significant snowfall or rainfall.
