Delhi: Rough driving results in the seizure of 28 motorcycles

In a show of force against offenders, the Delhi Police on Wednesday said that they had filed a formal complaint for reckless driving and had taken the lives of thirty-five people on 28 motorcycles as they were traveling in groups and creating social media reels.

According to the authorities, three or four of the 35 riders are minors who live in Delhi and linked with one another via a WhatsApp group.

The operation is in response to ongoing allegations of a gang of motorcyclists who get together every year to ride recklessly on city streets. Unfortunately, on their most recent trip, cops were able to successfully apprehend them, thus their luck turned bad.

The Parliament Street and Kartavya Path Police Stations in the New Delhi district region collaborated on the operation.

According to Devesh Kumar Mahla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi), a patrolling staff member saw a gang of motorcyclists driving carelessly and rashly on Wednesday around 3:30 a.m.

The DCP said, “As a result, they informed other personnel on night patrol, and through well-coordinated and communicated efforts, 28 two-wheelers and their riders were apprehended.”

A formal complaint under section 279 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was filed at the Parliament Street Police Station, targeting 24 motorcycle riders. Meanwhile, a separate case was filed under section 279 IPC at the Kartavya Path Police Station, targeting the remaining four motorcyclists.
