“Did not want him to ruin girl’s life”: father of a man assassinated in Delhi the night before his wedding

NEW DELHI: During his questioning, an unmoved Ranglal Singhal informed police, “My son Gaurav had it coming.” A day after the 54-year-old father was taken into custody in Jaipur on suspicion of killing his 29-year-old son in Devli, south Delhi, authorities said that Singhal sought revenge for several instances of misbehavior and even beatings by Gaurav.

Singhal decided to murder him the day before his wedding because he also wanted to teach his wife, who kept apart, a lesson for supporting Gaurav, according to interrogators. According to an investigator, the fight on Wednesday served as the catalyst, although Singhal had been considering killing his kid for the previous three to four months.
For the task, three contract murderers were employed. “The deal was fixed at Rs 1.5 lakh, and the contract killers were paid Rs 75,000.” They are all between the ages of 22 and 25 and live in the same area,” one officer said.
The inquiry has shown that the father and son often argued over a range of topics, including the son’s lavish lifestyle. Singhal said to the police that he intended his wife to suffer forever since she had supported Gaurav in the past, and he had picked the day before his wedding to make her suffering worse.
He said to us that Gaurav had slapped him and that his mother had approved of the rudeness. She used to encourage her kid to mistreat and beat him up in public. He informed us that his kid was the reason his self-respect was eroding daily, an officer said.
The accused went on to say that he didn’t feel bad about murdering his kid. Singhal had braggingly told folks the day before that he would accomplish something that would live on in history. He persuaded a staffer at his son’s gym to tell Gaurav to meet him at their second residence when he contacted the man on Wednesday. They assaulted Gaurav with knives, scissors, and iron rods when he came. His body had more than fifteen injuries.
Ankit Chauhan, deputy commissioner of police (south), said that the culprit was apprehended with the cooperation of the Rajasthan police, adding that 886 kilos of gold and Rs 15 lakh were discovered on him. “He intended to escape to another state. In order to prevent Gaurav from ruining the girl’s life, Singhal claimed to have had his son slain before the wedding.
The police are also looking into any arguments between the father and son about Gaurav’s desire to wed a different woman.
Gaurav had a gym; Singhal’s primary source of revenue was rent. The family resided at Devli Extension, close to Raju Park. When Gaurav’s family members called the police around 12.30 on Thursday morning, they reported that he had abruptly vanished while his pre-wedding ceremonies were underway. When several family members went to his abandoned home next to their primary household, they saw him lying in a pool of blood.
