“Do whatever you want”: PM Modi responds to Congress’s allegation of violating the election code

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at a rally in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the polls, on Wednesday took aim at the Congress over corruption and restated his “85% commission” claim. PM Modi made fun of Mallikarjun Kharge by claiming that the traditional party is still “in the habit of controlling (its leaders) with remote.” He said, “It controlled (former Prime Minister) Manmohan Singh first, and now it’s the party president.” In addition, the prime minister pledged to move the nation’s economy up to the third rank in the event that he is elected to a third term.

“The moment to continue being wary of the Congress party is now. That party divides society, plunders impoverished people’s money, and engages in scams; to Congress, the growth of a state or the country is of little consequence. The president of Congress is operated via a remote. It is all he can do. He mistreats Sanatan while the remote is functional (Dharma). He mentioned the Pandavas and said that the BJP is made up of five of them yesterday when the remote was broken. Speaking during the event in the Damoh area, he said, “We take pride in following the road that the Pandavas paved for us.

He also went after the Congress for seeking to file a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) for allegedly breaking the model code of conduct after PM Modi’s announcement that the free ration plan will be extended for an additional five years. The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) has been extended till December 2028. It was first introduced in 2020 for the 80 crore beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and was scheduled to expire in December 2023. The declaration was made by the prime minister during a Chhattisgarh rally.

“They (the Congress) are discussing complaining against Modi to the EC. “How could he talk about providing the poor with free rations?” “How does Modi view himself?” Do as you like; I’ll take whatever penalty that comes my way, but I won’t let the underprivileged do the task,” he said.

Prior to the Union Cabinet’s approval, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh accused Prime Minister Modi of breaking the model code of conduct when he announced that the PMGKAY would be extended. In the middle of the Chhattisgarh election campaign, a desperate Prime Minister proposed a five-year extension of the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana. This clearly transgresses the Model Code of Conduct. “Will the EC notice and do something about it?” he tweeted on X.
