Drug terror cells destroyed, over 44 kg of heroin recovered in Jammu

Police and security personnel in the Rajouri and Poonch districts along the Line of Control (LOC) have seized 44.47 kg of heroin during joint operations from narco-terrorist modules. In the operations, weapons and ammunition have also been taken.


Major narco-terror modules have been busted, according to additional DGP (Jammu area) Mukesh Singh, who said this on Wednesday. The recoveries were made during raids over the last two weeks.

The ADGP said that further items confiscated included an AK 47 weapon, two handguns, eight grenades, and Rs. 13.2 lakh. Eight people have been detained in relation to this.

In the meanwhile, the Police in Baramulla, North Kashmir, near the LOC, made a significant breakthrough when they detained nine drug traffickers and found 1.78 kilogramme of illegal heroine as well as cash totaling Rs. 69.20 lakh.

Three drug-terror kingpins were captured earlier last week by a combined Army and police squad in the Rajouri district’s Sunderbani neighbourhood. Additionally, two grenades were found.

The people detained are members of narco-terror units controlled by Pakistani authorities on both sides of the Line of Control.
