Drugs seized were burned before the LS votes

In anticipation of the next Lok Sabha (LS) elections in the seats of Fatehgarh Sahib and Sangrur, the district police have made the decision to maintain a clean yard. To avoid any potential reintroduction of drugs and narcotics into society, all stockpiles that have been confiscated up to this point have been destroyed.

“Our ultimate goal is to destroy drugs and narcotics completely so that they are not re-circulated in any case,” stated Malerkotla SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh. He claimed that all drug and narcotics stocks that had been seized at the district’s various police stations up to this point had been destroyed. Among the items incinerated were 1,629 grams of heroin, 3.5 lakh pills and capsules, 634 kilograms of poppy husk, and 25 grams of narcotic powder that had been found over the previous three months.

SSP Khakh asserted that a plan had been developed to guarantee that no individual police officer has access to any prohibited product seized during police action, claiming that all stocks had been totally destroyed in a furnace in front of the Drug Disposal Committee, which is made up of SP (D) and DSP (D) in addition to other personnel.

Khakh expressed gratitude to law enforcement officials stationed at his jurisdiction’s many police stations for their assiduous efforts in combating drug misuse. He said that over 150 drug users had been successfully rehabilitated via consistent counseling by assigned police officers during this time.

“With the assistance of social organizations, we have focused our attention on spreading awareness about the causes and consequences of drug abuse in addition to carrying out conventional policing,” Khakh stated. He also mentioned that special teams of police had been sent to keep a watch in identified hotspots that would be raided often during the election season.
