ED claims that Kavitha conspired to plunder with Kejriwal and Sisodia

According to allegations made by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), K Kavitha, a BRS MLC, and other individuals colluded with prominent Aam Aadmi Party figures, such as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, to obtain preferential treatment in the development and execution of the Delhi Excise Policy.

In relation to Kavitha’s apprehension, the ED made a formal announcement on Monday.

According to the statement, Kavitha paid the AAP leaders Rs 100 crore in return for these favors. The Delhi Excise Policy 2021–22 was created and carried out with corruption and collusion, which gave the AAP access to an ongoing flow of illicit money in the form of bribes from wholesalers. In addition, Kavitha and her allies were expected to make money off of this whole scheme and retrieve any criminal earnings that had been given to AAP in advance.

According to the ED, searches have been carried out at 245 sites nationwide, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, and other cities. So far, 15 people—among them Manish Sisodia, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, and Vijay Nair—have been taken into custody in connection with the investigation.

According to the ED, it has submitted five supplemental complaints and one prosecution complaint in this matter so far.

According to the statement, assets totaling <128.79 crore have been found and attached via provisional attachment orders on January 24, 2023, and July 3, 2023, as part of the “proceeds of the crime.” The adjudicating body has validated both of the attachment orders, according to the ED.

After her home was searched on March 15, Kavitha was taken into custody in Hyderabad. The ED said that Kavitha’s family members and friends hindered its agents throughout the search.

Kavitha, meanwhile, protested her ED detention by knocking on the Supreme Court’s doors on Monday.

Harish and KTR meet Kavitha

On Kavitha’s second day in ED detention, questions about the Delhi liquor scandal were asked of her by authorities. She met her cousin T Harish Rao and brother KT Rama Rao.

Notably, DR. Anil Kumar, Kavitha’s husband, said in a letter that he would not be able to come before the ED on Monday as requested by the agency to be questioned.

Political leaders are perplexed by BRS MLC K Kavitha KCR’s silence on her daughter’s arrest.
