ED raids West Bengali minister Chandranath Sinha’s home in connection with a school employment scam

In conjunction with its probe into the alleged school recruitment fraud, a team from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) searched West Bengal minister Chandranath Sinha’s home in Bolpur, Birbhum district, on Friday, according to authorities.

Around 9.15 am, the ED team arrived to Sinha’s home accompanied by a large detachment of central troops, they alleged, and they started the search.

At that time, Sinha—who holds the government of Mamata Banerjee’s ministries for MSME and textiles—was not at home.

He was around ninety kilometers away, at his ancestral home in Murarai.

“The search is related to the examination of the purported anomalies in the fraudulent school recruiting scheme. We are speaking with his family; the minister is not at his house,” an ED representative said.

In connection with the livestock and coal smuggling charges, Sinha was previously called by the CBI.

In connection with the suspected recruiting fraud, the ED was reportedly executing simultaneous raids at the homes of a few businesspeople in various sections of Kolkata, such as Lake Town, Chetla, and Ballygunge.

They were thought to be assisting in the illegal movement of money from India to other nations. The officer said, “We are speaking with them and checking over certain paperwork.
