ED Says Bhupesh Baghel Was a Part of BJP’s Scheme to Damage the Image of the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh: Cong

The state’s electorate would respond appropriately to such tactics in the next Assembly election, the Congress claimed on Saturday, alleging that the allegations made by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Bhupesh Baghel are part of a “conspiracy” hatched by the BJP to damage the chief minister of Chhattisgarh’s reputation.

Given that there had been a blatant “violation” of the Model Code of Conduct, the opposition party said that it will also bring up the issue with the Election Commission (EC).

Speaking at a news conference here, Congress national secretary Jairam Ramesh said that the saffron party is abusing federal authorities like the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), given that the BJP’s loss in the Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh Assembly elections is certain.

“The people of Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan believe in the Congress.” Ramesh said that the BJP was engaging in politics of vengeance.

According to K C Venugopal, a different Congress politician, there is an obvious plot to damage Baghel’s reputation, and the public will respond appropriately to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the next elections.

According to the ED, “these are a subject matter of investigation” on the “startling allegations” that Mahadev betting app entrepreneurs have paid Baghel around Rs 508 crore so far, based on forensic research and a statement from a “cash courier.”

On Saturday, the BJP attacked Baghel over the claim that he got kickbacks totaling over Rs 500 crore, accusing the Congress of funding its election campaign in Chhattisgarh using “hawala” money smuggled in by illicit betting operators.
