Elections to the Jharkhand Lok Sabha in 2024: RJD and Congress Workers Fight in Chatra

There was a reported altercation between Congress and RJD supporters over the Chatra Lok Sabha seat, which both allies had been targeting, when the prime minister was lecturing at a rally in Rajasthan on internal strife within the India alliance. Numerous others are said to have been hurt as the employees of both parties threw chairs at one another.

Reports state that when representatives of the INDIA bloc were present on the dais during the gathering, there was conflict between the supporters of the RJD and K. N Tripathi, the Congress candidate from Chatra. Gopal, Tripathi’s brother, was reportedly seriously injured in the altercation, according to reports. Security officers stepped in and stabilized the incident.

Former Jharkhand cabinet member Tripathi said that ten to fifteen foreigners had joined the event with the goal to cause trouble. However, there was sufficient justification for former cabinet minister and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad to accuse the opposition group of being a “quarrelsome alliance.” On social media, a video of the altercation became popular. RJD activists were upset that the Congress would get the Chatra seat as part of the Jharkhand seat-sharing agreement.

Congress will run for seven seats, JMM for five, and RJD and CPI (ML) for one seat apiece under the terms of the seat-sharing agreement.
