Father rapes son’s wife, who is expelled from the home, and the husband claims “she’s mom”

A complaint has been brought against a man in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly raping and assaulting his daughter-in-law, which constitutes a severe violation of interpersonal ties.

After she informed him about the alleged rape by his father, the woman’s husband reportedly physically assaulted her and demanded she leave their house, according to the police. When she informed her husband, he said, “When I told my husband, he told me that since his father had developed a physical relationship, we cannot stay together as he had become his father’s wife now,” she told the police.

The 23-year-old lady said to the police that on July 5, when she was home alone, her 50-year-old father-in-law broke into her room. She was seven months along. She said in a police report she submitted on September 7 that he had threatened to kill her if she told anybody about the event.

The victim said that following the event, she moved in with her parents after being expelled from the residence.

She then made the decision to accuse them in court. The woman’s husband and her in-law’s father, Istikhar, were both mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR).

According to the FIR, the woman’s father-in-law regularly “looked at her inappropriately” after they were married in August 2022.

The woman’s father-in-law is accused of raping and beating her on July 5 after her husband left the house with his mother to see the doctor.

On September 5, she called the police and reported her father-in-law and her husband. A case was then started under multiple IPC sections, including 376 (which addresses rape), among others.

The police are investigating the matter.

A 28-year-old lady claimed that her father-in-law had sexually assaulted her in a case identical to this in Muzaffar Nagar district in 2005, and the panchayat concluded that her husband had become her son as a result.
