Following Manmohan Singh, Ansari, and LK Advani’s home vote in the May 18 Delhi local elections

The Delhi election board said that former Union minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, former deputy prime minister LK Advani, former prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, and former vice president Mohammad Hamid Ansari had all used the home voting service.

The home voting option for senior citizens and people with disabilities (PwDs) was launched by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office on Thursday and will run until May 24.

On Friday, the second day the service was opened, 1409 voters in all seven parliamentary seats of Delhi cast votes from the comfort of their homes, according to the office’s statistics.

There were 348 home votes cast in the West Delhi seat, which was the highest amount.

There were 299 old people among them.

As of the end of the second day, 2,956 voters have used their right to cast a ballot from home, according to the CEO office.

“Former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh and former Union minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi successfully cast their votes on May 17 from their home availing home voting facility in the New Delhi parliamentary constituency,” stated the office.

It further said that Mohammad Hamid Ansari, a former vice president, voted on Thursday.

According to reports, former deputy prime minister LK Advani voted on Saturday.

A total of 1,482 people cast ballots from home on the first day.

In Delhi, 5,406 voters—both PwDs and the elderly—have completed Form 12D in order to use the home voting option for the Lok Sabha elections of 2024.

By removing the need for them to attend voting places, our effort guarantees that these voters may engage in the political process with dignity and convenience.

Polls in Delhi are scheduled on May 25.
