For the first five years of their tenure, Karnataka MPs underperformed: Examine

A performance review of the 28 state MPs shows that most of them underperformed in the first five years of their terms, even as polls for the Lok Sabha elections are only a few days away.

The poll took into account their performance in their constituencies, questions they answered, attendance in Parliament, and involvement in important debates.

The average total attendance of all MPs, according to the poll, was 71%. No issue was ever made in the House by former chief minister and Bangalore North MP Sadanand Gowda, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi, or Vijaypur MP Ramesh Jigajinagi. Apart from thanking the President, Anant Kumar Hegde (Uttar Kannada MP), DV Sadananda Gowda, Joshi, Ramesh Jigajinagi (Vijayapura), Srinivasa Prasad (Chamarajanagar), and Bache Gowda (Chikkaballapur) did not take part in a discussion, according to the study. During one argument, Mangala Angadi (Belagavi) made a plea for more flights to the Belagavi Airport.

Social scientists AR Vasavi and Janaki Nair conducted the study, which was presented on Friday at a gathering hosted by the civil society organization Samvidanada Hadiyalli. They noted in their report that Pralhad Joshi and DK Suresh (Bangalore Rural) gave the community a lot of assistance during COVID.

Eleven Members of Parliament attended meetings and directed funds to give minimal help. According to their study, two people—Srinivasa Prasad and Tejasvi Surya (Bangalore South)—played a detrimental influence, while the other fifteen were deemed “indifferent.”

According to Vasavi and Janaki, the only people who were thought to have contributed to Karnataka’s policies and programs were Suresh about GST payments and shares to the state and Sadananda Gowda regarding the promotion of Jan Aushadi Kendras in the state.
