See ‘Yellove’, the Chennai Super Kings’ Young Superfans’ Show, in Chepauk

On Wednesday, the Chennai Super Kings suffered their sixth loss of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season at MA Chidambaram Stadium due to a subpar batting effort. In front of home supporters, the Punjab Kings defeated the reigning champions by a margin of seven wickets.

Chepauk was filled with enthusiastic supporters, much like every single CSK home game, with yells and whistles coming from every crevice of the legendary arena.

Many of the young fans who came to support CSK were in the audience. The Chennai-based squad posted a picture of several little supporters wearing yellow jerseys screaming for the five-time winners on Instagram, showcasing their love for the team and MS Dhoni.

A picture of a child who went to watch the game with his parents was included in the post. Another girl was seen carrying a sign with a plea for Dhoni on it.

“I am a great admirer of MSD. Come bat for at least five overs, please. I love you, Thala,” the message read.

When Dhoni onto the field after CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed, the little fan’s dream was granted. The CSK batsmen struggled in the first inning in Chepauk, as the surface seemed to be a little tough.

But Dhoni hit two sixes and a four in his eleven-ball stint. He was run out on 14 while trying to take two runs on the last ball.

After remaining undefeated through seven innings, Dhoni lost his wicket for the first time in the current IPL.

For CSK, Gaikwad was their best batsman. The gifted opener held his own against the PBKS spinners while other hitters were having trouble.

Despite facing 48 deliveries, he played a cool 62-run knock. He hit two sixes and five fours.

In the end, CSK scored 162 at a cost of seven wickets.

PBKS had no difficulty pursuing the target. With 13 balls remaining, the visitors easily completed the mark because of the bat skills of Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw.
