French President Macron Attends India’s 75th Republic Day Celebrations and Says He’s “Proud To Be With You” | Watch

On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron attended the 75th Republic Day festivities in India at the magnificent Kartavya Path in New Delhi. Prominent figures in attendance were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian President Droupadi Murmu, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

In addition to foreign ambassadors and a plethora of other guests, Macron was joined by the Union Cabinet members for the festivities, which included a spectacular military parade and cultural presentations.

The French leader wished India a happy Republic Day on social media before to the event, expressing his pride in being a part of the festivities. “I send you my best greetings on this Republic Day. I’m glad and honored to be with you. Let’s rejoice!

While traveling to Kartavya Path, French President Macron was also seen traveling in a special presidential carriage with Droupadi Murmu, who was being followed by the president’s bodyguard.

Later, Macron said, “A great honour for France,” in a post on the social media site X that included a video of the French contingent parading. I’m grateful, India. As the delegation went in front of Macron, the leader was also seen grinning.

The French president was greeted by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar upon his arrival in Jaipur on Thursday. Following this, Macron and Prime Minister Modi conducted a large roadshow.

Macron also paid visits to Pink City’s well-known attractions, including Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, and Amber Fort, which are expected to increase tourism, according to industry participants.

Following a red carpet welcome for the French president, Modi and Macron had extensive discussions on Thursday to further solidify India-France strategic collaboration, particularly in the areas of commerce, renewable energy, security, and defense.

Following a roadshow by Modi and Macron from the famous Hawa Mahal in the Pink City to the astronomical observation location of Jantar Mantar, the negotiations took place inside a 19th-century mansion.

This is the sixth time a French leader has attended India’s largest ceremonial event—the most of any nation. President Jacques Chirac started this custom in 1976. Valery Giscard d’Estaing did the same in 1980, Nicolas Sarkozy in 2008, and Francois Hollande did so in 2016.
