Impact of Heatwave: Arup Patnaik, a BJD candidate from Puri, Passes Out During a Rally for the Lok Sabha Election in Pipili, Odisha

Political parties have started holding campaign rallies in the harsh weather since the Lok Sabha elections started. Arup Patnaik, a former Mumbai police commissioner and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Puri candidate, passed out at a campaign rally in Pipili, Odisha, due to the heat.

After becoming sick during a vehicle event, Patnaik was taken to the hospital right away. Legislators and party officials rushed to his aid, dousing him with water and transporting him to Pipili hospital.

Doctors reportedly discovered that he had low blood pressure and recommended that he take saline.

The public broadcaster’s Kolkata branch’s Lopamudra, a news anchor for Doordarshan, passed out live over the weekend owing to extreme heat. Sinha had a blackout as a result of her blood pressure dropping.

She clarified that she fainted due to an extreme temperature and a quick decrease in blood pressure.

The India Meteorological Department said in its Monday bulletin that there would be a range of weather throughout the nation during the next five days. States like Odisha and West Bengal are forecast to have mild weather, although showers and thunderstorms are predicted for northeastern India.

The IMD predicts high nighttime temperatures on April 22 in Gujarat, West Bengal, and Odisha, with maximum temperatures predicted to be over 40°C. The maximum temperature in Odisha and certain regions of the Great West Bengal would be between 42 and 45 °C.
