From a consignment headed for the US, four cargo warehouse employees at the Delhi airport steal iPhones

Allegedly, four cargo warehouse personnel at Delhi Airport took pricey telephones from a consignment headed for the United States. The agents said they were unable to afford a new iPhone for themselves.

For the previous five years, the accused—Sunil Mishra, Prahlad Kumar, Chandan Prasad, and Vinay Kumar Singh—were employed by the freight firm.

According to DCP (IGI) Usha Rangnani, the case’s facts are as follows: on April 5, the complainant, Surender Singh Yadav, CEO of Delhi Cargo Service Pvt Ltd, Terminal -2, IGI Airport, Delhi, filed an electronic First Information Report (e-FIR) alleging that five “iPhone 15” pieces were stolen from a shipment that had been received at their warehouse and sent to Chicago, USA.

After further research, it was discovered that the mobile cargo was owned by DHL Company, who had it sent from Chennai to its Chicago, USA, location. The DHL Company then contracted with Air India Airlines for its transportation needs.

“Due to its ease and proximity to other aircraft, Air India Airlines transported the package from the DHL office in Chennai to T-2 IGI Airport in Delhi. The package was scheduled to be shipped to Chicago, US, on March 25, but it landed at T-2 IGI Airport on March 20 instead, according to the DCP.

Air India, one of DCSC Cargo Company’s clients, received the package at T-2, IGI Airport in Delhi. DCSC Cargo Company handles the import and export of all cargo products operated by Air India Airlines. The mobile consignment was stored at DCSC’s storage at Delhi’s T-2 IGI Airport until March 25. After that, it was reloaded onto an Air India aircraft headed for Chicago, USA.

“Every CCTV camera in the cargo terminal area at the airport, which records the loading and unloading of shipments, as well as the warehouse where the shipments are stored, was thoroughly examined. The DCP said that after examining many cameras, it was determined that the items were taken from the warehouse.

According to her, information about every employee of the warehouse who was on duty during the suspected period was gathered, and after a thorough interrogation of forty employees and warehouse agents who handle the loading, unloading, packing, and other tasks related to the cargo goods, four suspects were finally narrowed down.

They admitted to having planned to take the iPhones from the cargo after being questioned for a long time. They did not have enough money with them to purchase a new iPhone for themselves. The source said that Vinay Kumar Singh, the fourth culprit, was tied down in the case for a portion of criminal conspiracy. “They made a plan to steal three of them when they knew about the iPhones in the shipment,” the officer said.
