Ganeswar’s Lekhashree is the newest BJD entrant

Lekhashree Samantsinghar, the vice-president of the BJP’s state branch, left the saffron party on Sunday, only hours after taking on important positions there for a decade.

She is anticipated to be named the party’s candidate for the Balasore Lok Sabha constituency shortly, as has been the tradition in the BJD. Should that come to be, she would be the eighth contender put out by the regional party after their departure from competitors like as the Congress and BJP.

Furthermore, Lekhashree’s candidacy will benefit BJD in another way. In the 2019 elections, the regional organization has instituted the practice of fielding female candidates for one-third of the Lok Sabha seats. If she is selected, she would be the seventh woman to be nominated by the regional party for the Lok Sabha, rounding out the numbers.

Lekhashree feels like she is going home when she joins BJD. She left the BJD in 2013 to join the BJP, where she held executive roles in the state organization. “I have given my sweat and blood to the BJP for the last 10 years,” Lekhashree said in her resignation letter to state president Manmohan Samal. But in spite of my honesty and diligence, I was unable to gain the leadership’s confidence. My desire to help the people of Odisha is being impeded, and I feel that there is nothing left for me to accomplish here.

She expressed her gratitude to BJD leadership and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for their warm reception of her. She expressed her inspiration for the people-focused efforts of the state administration and the chief minister. Lekhashree later visited VK Pandian, the chairman of the 5T and the chief minister, at Naveen Niwas.

At Sankha Bhawan here, a senior Congress official and former Ganeswar Behera who just left the historic party also joined the BJD. It is anticipated that he would run for the Kendrapara Assembly seat. After joining the BJD, Behera congratulated the chief minister and the chairman of the 5T and said that he would strive for the party and Kendrapara’s growth.
