“Gangrape” of the Dalit student: Government Ripudaman College, Nabha has just three guards for every three thousand students

Government Ripudaman College, Nabha, had just three contracted security officers overseeing the safety of its about 3,000 students, and at the time of the “gangrape,” “not all” of the college’s CCTV cameras were operational.

In the meanwhile, the third accused Harry in the purported “gangrape” of the Dalit college student in Nabha was taken into custody by the police today.

Two security guards, one of whom was a woman, were stationed at the college’s gate, according to SHO Nabha Kotwali, Gurpreet Singh Samrao. But after the event, three guards are present. According to our study, the security measures were insufficient, and the guards seldom did anything to prevent strangers who often visited from entering,” he said.

The Tribune was able to get information suggesting the institution had contracted with a private company to handle its security, with a contract expiration date of March 31. According to a college insider, “many other outsiders were on the college campus on March 27, the day of the crime, in addition to the accused.”

Samrao went on to say that when examining the crime scene, they discovered a broken-down CCTV camera near the location of the event. “Even the CCTV cameras put at the institution had incorrect dates and timings. This isn’t doing anything to further our inquiries, he said.

According to sources inside the police department, an initial investigation found that a large number of outsiders were frequent attendees at the institution, to the extent that they knew the names of the cafeteria staff and sweepers.

“The three accused have admitted that they were frequent visitors to the institution and that sitting on the campus was part of their routine. The police added, “They had even spread rumors that they were members of the college students union from the canteen to the college park.”

The event has been reported in detail to the National Human Rights Commission.

The youngster found the bravery to tell her parents on April 7, and on April 9, a FIR was filed in response to the victim’s April 8 allegation.

The three accused raped me in turn. We are free to kill you and gangrape you once again. The FIR states, “The accused threatened to kill me if I revealed anything about the incident.”

The victim claims in the FIR that Davinder Singh invited her to the first-floor principal’s office so they could have a conversation. The woman claims, “I went to the room around 1 pm, and the accused and two other people raped me.” Harry, Davinder, and Ravneet Singh are now being held by the police. “I am keeping a close eye on the matter, and we will collect all available evidence. An arrest has also been made for the third accused. Patiala SSP Varun Sharma said, “We will provide the victim with justice, and any negligence on the part of anyone will also be reported.”

The principal of Government Ripudaman College, Hartej Kaur, responded to the correspondent’s phone call by saying she was driving and would return shortly. She didn’t return her call.
