Government of Jharkhand Approves 180-Day Maternity Leave for Female Contract Workers

On Wednesday, the Jharkhand government approved 180 days of maternity leave for women who are contractually employed by the state government. Before, there was no clause allowing women hired on contracts to get such a reward.

“A proposal to provide women hired on a contract basis the right to maternity leave has been accepted by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Employees who qualify for maternity leave will get 180 days of it, according to a statement from the state secretariat.

According to the announcement, the plan that the chief minister authorized would apply to such female workers who have worked 80 days under contract in the previous 12 months.
