Green belt construction was stopped by a High Court injunction

The district government has stopped all building in the district’s green belt zones after orders from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Deputy Commissioner RK Singh attested to the court orders’ execution.

Regarding encroachments on green belts in the city, the court sent warnings to the government, the district administration, MLA Gopal Kanda, and other parties. According to allegations, a number of politicians backed these incursions, including Manish Singla, Gokul Setia, and Kanda. The court emphasized that even religious organizations were not exempt and ordered a stop to any further building. May 27 is the day of the case’s next hearing.

Kartar Singh, a resident of Agrasen Colony in Sirsa, submitted a PIL (public interest litigation) petition pointing out how green belts meant for public usage and oxygen production are being endangered.

Numerous people, including prominent politicians, have been charged with providing support to encroachers. He said that in spite of many protests, encroachments continued, with makeshift tents turning into long-term buildings masquerading as charitable or religious endeavors.

“At this time, there is no construction taking place in the green belt, and we are closely monitoring the situation,” the Deputy Commissioner has said. The court’s directives will be carried out.”
