Gujarat visits by Modi and Shah encourage BJP cadres

Due to the absence of Chief Minister MK Stalin and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Kanniyakumari poll campaigns, BJP cadres in the district received a boost from Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent roadshow and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting last month. These developments are expected to be reflected in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, according to party sources.

However, because Stalin and Rahul Gandhi conducted candidate canvassing in Tirunelveli, Congress and DMK officials believe that the BJP leaders’ campaigning would not have an impact on Congress’ win in the Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha seat and Vilavancode assembly byelection. Along with BJP state chairman K Annamalai and other NDA officials, the prime minister traveled to Kanniyakumari on March 15 to campaign for the party prior to the election schedule being announced. The party cadres here are more happier now that he has visited. at a same vein, party members responded enthusiastically to Amit Shah’s roadshow at Thuckalay, where he was requesting votes for candidates Pon Radhakrishnan and VS Nandhini, according to sources.

AN Rajakannan, the BJP’s Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha in-charge, reports that the populace gave Modi and Shah an enthusiastic welcome. “It clearly indicates a thumping victory for the saffron party in the upcoming polls,” he said. In contrast, DMK East District Secretary and Mayor R Mahesh of Nagercoil said that their party will win with sizable majorities and claimed that INDIA bloc cadres were successfully campaigning in Vilavancode and Kanniyakumari to secure Congress’ victory.

In praising Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress MLA S Rajesh Kumar said, “Our leader (Rahul Gandhi) began the yatra from Kanniyakumari in 2022 and traveled around the district for three days. He was able to affect change at the grassroots level and among party cadres via the deed.” He went on to mention the efforts of DMK leaders Udhayanidhi Stalin, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, and TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai, among others. Rajesh Kumar expressed his opinion on the defection of former MLA S Vijayadharani, saying, “Her BJP campaigning will not make any impact in the Vilavancode bypoll.” Rather, it will only help the Congress win by wide percentages.”
