Gunfire outside Guru Nanak Khalsa College in Abohar results in three arrests

According to reports, a preliminary inquiry into the gunfire outside Guru Nanak Khalsa College on the city bypass close to Abohar-Malout Road here on Tuesday revealed that some thugs were hired to seize control of the college students’ union despite Punjab University’s prohibition on elections. Since the Lok Sabha elections were still in progress, such actions were also forbidden. A competing faction resisted the group’s attempt to put posters outside the campus despite the ban, which led to an altercation.

On Tuesday, around 10.30 a.m., Assistant Sub-Inspector Sukhwinder Singh got word that two factions were engaged in combat close to the college’s main gate in an attempt to establish the students’ union’s dominance. Just in time, the cops arrived to pursue the runaway miscreants.

Three of the seven miscreants listed by the city-I police in the FIR were taken into custody and will be questioned today. For almost thirty kilometers, police units pursued the escaping offenders. The police apprehended Harish Kumar, also known as Harry, Jatin Kumar, and Mukesh Kumar. During questioning, more people were probably going to be named.

While Jatin and Harish are laborers, the accused, Mukesh Kumar works on farms. The accused was found in possession of one motorbike, two swords, a.32 caliber handgun, a.32 caliber shell, and baseballs.

There have been rumors that the students’ union president was to be chosen informally and without the administration’s consent.

A case has been filed in accordance with the Arms Act’s Sections 25(7)(1) and 307, 160, 148, 149, and 427 of the IPC.
