Heavy rain and snow are expected in Himachal Pradesh during the next two days

An orange weather warning has been issued for April 18 and 19, resulting in thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and gusty winds in isolated places. This will disrupt essential services like electricity, communications, and related services. The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh will receive snowfall, while the state’s middle and lower hills will see heavy rain.

For April 20 and 21, a yellow weather warning has been issued, indicating the possibility of isolated thunderstorms with lightning. Orchardists have been encouraged to use hail netting to protect their crops from harm in light of this anticipated strong period of rain and snow.

According to Surendir Paul, Director of the Meteorological Department, the state will see precipitation for the next few days due to a recent western Disturbance. Isolated parts of the state will see heavy rain and snowfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 40 to 50 km/h.

Over the course of the previous day, sporadic spots around the state saw light rainfall. The lowest and highest temperatures on average were below average. Over the course of the previous day, there was 4.5 mm of rain in Narkanda, Mandi, 3.8 mm in Kalpa, 3.7 mm in Sangla, 3.4 mm in Kinnaur, 3 mm in Keylong, Lahaul and Spiti, and Reckong Peo in Kinnaur, 1.5 mm in Kufri, close to Shimla, and 0.5 mm in Sundernagar, Mandi district.

The previous 24 hours had largely sunny weather in Shimla, the state capital, with a high temperature of 24.2°C. Manali and Dharamsala, two popular tourist sites, had high temperatures of 23.6°C and 27.4°C, respectively. In Mandi, the highest recorded temperature was 31.9°C, while in Bilaspur, it was 32.9°C. There were records for 31.4°C in Nahan, 29.5°C in Solan, 31.1°C in Kangra, 18.8°C in Narkanda, 26.3°C in Reckong Peo, 25.4°C in Kasauli, 20.9°C in Kalpa, 30.6°C in Bhuntar, 20.3°C in Kufri, 29.8°C in Chamba, 31.1°C in Sundernagar, and 33.4°C in Una.

Keylong reported the lowest temperature of 0.3°C, while Dhaula Kuan in the Sirmaur district recorded the highest temperature of 34°C.
