Himachal Pradesh rainstorm: 16 dead in landslides in Shimla and a cloudburst in Solan

As rain caused havoc in Himachal Pradesh on Monday, at least 16 people were killed in two landslides in Shimla and a cloudburst in Solan.

The collapse of a Shiv temple in the Summer Hill neighborhood resulted in the discovery of nine corpses, according to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The second accident site was in the Fagli neighborhood, where numerous homes were buried beneath muck and snow.

 

Officials worry that many more individuals are trapped.

 

A cloudburst in Solan district claimed the lives of a family of seven people.

 

Following the cloudburst Sunday night, two homes in Solan were destroyed. Six people were saved, while seven more perished in Jadon hamlet, according to a police spokesman.

 

According to Superintendent of Police for Solan Gaurav Singh, the deceased have been named as Harnam (38), Kamal Kishore (35), Hemlata (34), Rahul (14), Neha (12), Golu (8), and Raksha (12).

 

According to Shimla’s deputy commissioner Aditya Negi, rescue efforts are in full gear as many people are suspected to be buried in the two landslides.
