Hyderabad: Children with special needs’ savior

Hyderabad: Sridevi Prasad of the Shankar Foundation will receive the 31st Yudhvir Foundation Memorial Award in recognition of her unwavering dedication to providing high-quality rehabilitation services and enhancing the lives of individuals with special needs. The award will be presented by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on April 30 at 4.30 p.m. at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, King Koti. A citation and one lakh rupees in cash are part of the prize.

Working as an assistant teacher, Sridevi Prasad allegedly saw her first special needs kid at the age of 20. Her desire to assist other youngsters like this motivated her to seek certification.

As she worked for a post-graduate psychology degree, she interned at The Hyderabad (formerly known as The Sweekaar Academy).

She founded the Shankar Foundation in 2000 with the goal of providing high-quality rehabilitation to those with special needs from infancy to old age. In 2000, she began having four children with the support of her family, friends, and financial assistance. She has provided treatment, education, vocational and transitional training, employability, and independent living to over 1,200 children and adults over the last 24 years.

Both outside and in India, her art has received recognition. Special thanks were given to the foundation by the late APJ Abdul Kalam, the president. Sridevi and sixty-five pupils were invited by the Sri Lankan government to take part in a cooperative cultural event in Colombo in 2017.
